We reported on the Heartland Payment Systems breach yesterday. Today we are following up with a list of articles covering the breach. Information is still coming out and will be for a long time. That has not stopped the media from labeling this the biggest data breach of all time.

We will refrain from commenting on the breach until more solid facts emerge. We willcontinue to relay facts to our readers as they come.

Forgive me, but my Computerworld piece did no such thing.

You’ll note the conscious use of quotation marks in the lede and also the contributions from folks such as Brian Krebs, who says, “If accurate, such figures may make the Heartland incident one of the largest data breaches ever reported.” (Emphasis mine.)

Thanks for the comment. I agree that your quoted bloggers use lots of “ifs” and “maybes” so I removed the comment on the post about making assumptions. Your post’s title, “Biggest ever credit card data breach”, however does appear to pass judgment, unlike your quoted sources.
